As far as most people are concerned, having a destination wedding on Gran Canaria is enough traveling. If you're having your wedding in the conference room at the base of the L Tower in Las Palmas, why not nip to the southern coast for your honeymoon? The climate is warm and dry there, perfect beach weather. This area is loaded with resorts you can visit if you want an all-inclusive experience. If you go to Maspalomas you can see the famous dunes and the lighthouse. You can lie around on the beach, go swimming, or simply bask in each other's company away from the bustle of the city.

Wilderness

If you and your brand new spouse like to go camping when you're not teaching university English courses, there are plenty of wild and remote places in Gran Canaria where you can go for your honeymoon. In fact, a third of the island consists of reserves protected by UNESCO. There's the Doramas Jungle, the green stretches of the Azuaje Ravine, Palmitos Bird Park, the spires of the western mountain ranges, and the system of almost 300 caves in Cenobio de Valeron. This type of honeymoon is great for alone time.

City

If you've had your wedding in a beachside resort or in one of the picturesque villages, you might want to spend your honeymoon exploring the sights and sounds of the capitol city of Las Palmas. It has a fantastic Carnival celebration, a historic connection to Christopher Columbus' famous voyage, and a top archeology museum as well as plenty of nightclubs, architecturally significant buildings, and shops where you can pick out décor for the Toronto luxury condo you and your spouse will now share.

Road Trip

In order to really take advantage of all the microcosms Gran Canaria has to offer, though, you should really consider renting a car and taking a road trip around this "little continent" for your honeymoon. You'll collect a wide variety of souvenirs to display in your London, Ontario homes and get to see all the picturesque little villages with their restored cathedrals as well as the bio preserves and the beaches. Since the island is so small, you can easily see all the highlights in a week.
